Botox has been used by doctors for decades to treat muscle spasms and movement disorders, to prevent migraines and of course…WRINKLES!
At almost 44, I didn’t think I needed Botox. I don’t think anybody needs Botox, but there are thousands of women over age 35 who would disagree. In fact over 7 million procedures were performed in the U.S. last year alone. In some ways, I’d be happier if it didn’t exist. Then no one would be using Botox and I could just wrinkle up (as slowly as possible) and not worry about a thing as long as all my friends are wrinkling up with me. But, Botox does exist and many women are singing its praises. In 10 years, these women will look about the same as they do today.
The fact is, Botox is the most effective wrinkle prevention technique available today. New wrinkles will not form in the places where Botox was injected. You can literally stop aging in its tracks and even reverse many signs of aging while the Botox is active on areas such as the forehead, frown area, crow’s feet, and more. Wrinkles and fine lines, be gone!
Speaking of fine lines – you can easily go overboard with your “enhancements.” You must find a medi-spa practitioner who believes in achieving a natural anti-aging result. It’s a slippery slope with medi-spa treatments, so you just need to know when to stop. We’ve seen some of those faces in magazines, haven’t we?
I fretted about getting Botox. I didn’t want to succumb to vanity. I wanted to be a good role model for my children. I was also terrified about getting a droopy eye for 4 months until the Botox wore off. I researched Botox extensively and was finally convinced that negative side effects are extremely rare when you have an expert practitioner. Nurse Ingrid – the injection specialist at The Waters – has never experienced any of these side effects with any of her clients. This was important to me.
Although I was apprehensive, I was also feeling like I was starting to look tired. There is such a stigma around injectable wrinkle prevention techniques. I reminded myself that I wear make-up, I try to dress fashionably, I straightened my teeth for cosmetic reasons, so I thought, “What’s the difference?”
So…the secret is out. (It was never a secret really, I posted it on Instagram.) I tried it and I LOVE IT!
The procedure was easy. Nurse Ingrid is expedient and very patient with questions. For some injections, I felt a very light prick and for others, I felt nothing at all. The tiny needle that is used in the Botox process is made specifically for these kind of injections – to minimize pain, bruising and swelling. The simple procedure was over in about 20 minutes. By the second day after treatment my crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles were completely erased and I still have movement in my forehead. I look and feel much less “tired” and I don’t even wear as much make-up anymore because I feel more confident about my appearance. Conclusion: Botox works.
I’ve also learned that men are also increasingly turning to Botox to rejuvenate their look. Men are just as susceptible to crow’s feet and frown lines as women. The search for youthfulness does not discriminate!
Facts about Botox
You will look more refreshed after a Botox treatment and you will still look like you. It is safe and it is effective. There are no known permanent negative side effects. Your results should last 4 to 6 months and that time frame is lengthened as you receive injections long term. Botox is FDA-approved to temporarily improve moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet.
At The Waters, we have an experienced and certified nurse, under the supervision of a doctor, who does the work. She specializes in creating a natural-looking result. The current rate is $10 per unit. The number of units you will need is determined in your initial consultation with Nurse Ingrid. My 43-year-old crow’s feet and frown lines required about 50 units. This is not an inexpensive venture, but I look at is as $100 a month to look about 10 years younger.
I’m not saying this is for everyone, and I’m not saying you should try it, but I did and I’m happy I did. It’s a personal choice. Although I like to talk about my Botox results (because they’re awesome!!!), please rest assured that your medi-spa treatments at The Waters will remain strictly confidential. It is up to you how and if you choose to share your beauty secrets with anyone.
Do only what you feel comfortable with to keep your skin healthy and youthful.
